After a long discussion, we decided to connect the blow fish metaphor with scream, to have an extreme situation. We thought about making a human-sized air balloon so that it can inflates when a person wearing this wearable is screaming. It resembled a hot air balloon, but it should have a lot of spikes.
We had to make the spikes manually as we couldn’t use the laser cutter. The material was too vurnerable to be cut in the laser cutter. Therefore, we had to find out how to mass-produce the spikes. We first thought the transparent spikes would work well with the plastic foil that we choose. And we tried hard to keep the movement visible when the balloon was inflating.
The manual labour was intense and we couldn’t make the whole costume covered with the spikes, However, we could see how it was hard to make the spikes with our own hands. We had to find other solutions to make the spikes.
The good part was that, however, the initial prototype that we made was working well with the air fan and the spikes were raising with the movement. We were looking forward to see how this would look like in the public.
